COLOUR AND SPIRITUALITY

Looking a rainbow leaves us without words and reconciles with the nature. All along our progenitors understood as much as colours can affect the mood and even support the recovery of illnesses and troubles of various nature. The oriental discipline of Feng Shui, tech us that the shape and the disposition of the house, together with particular precautions in the choice of the furniture, can support the Ch'i flow. The positive energy (called Ch'i) flows through the environments and can be helped by crystals that decompose the menacing pure sunlight, in its beneficent colours. Having a crystal that not only decompose, but puts this coloured energy, in "movement" represents an interesting Feng Shui remedy.

HOW IT WORKS

The Rainbow Maker is an ingenious solar energy engine, studied to put in rotation a polyhedron made of crystal. The engine is connected to a series of gears that have the function to slow down (demultiply) the rotation and transfer the motion to the crystal leaning. The scarce energy produced by the solar panel, is amplified by an electronic circuit and a generous coil, so as feed the little electric engine. All the parts mechanical and electric, are visible through the transparent shell and constitute a further attraction during working.
The direct light of the sun performs two functions: produces electric energy thanks to the solar cell, produces the rainbows for light decomposition through the crystal.
To obtain luminous and well-shaped rainbows, is necessary a crystal with high trasparence, without impurity (drops or splinterings), with a perfect geometry. Characteristics obtained with a Swarovski crystal (http://www.swarovski.com/index/), worldwide leader in this field. They are available two versions of Rainbow Maker, with a drop crystal and heart crystal. Depending on the version changes also the colours of the internal gears.
How does the decomposition of the light take place?

The scientist Isaac Newton found out that a bundle of sunlight, through a prism of glass, came dismantled (dispersed) in his monochromatic components. This phenomenon is due the refraction done by the glass on the various wavelengths from which the light is composed. Every colour is drifted with a different angle: the red (greater wavelength) comes deflected less than purple (lower wavelength). The result is a fan of colours (the luminous spectrum) in what one are able to distinguish the seven shades of the rainbow.
The crystal used by the Raibow Maker is a faceted solid (a polyhedron), less simple than the prism, able to decompose the light coming from many directions. The ideal to capture the sunbeams and return tiny rainbows that are projected on the surfaces of the room.
What is the solar panel?

Called more correctly "photovoltaic panel", is a semiconductor device that uses the characteristic of the silicon to produce electric charge, under the effect of light.
Exposed to the sunlight, photovoltaic panels behave as some generators of direct current (as the batteries) and can feed electric devices or load accumulators (rechargeable batteries) to store energy.
The yield of these generators is low, but the reduced maintenance and the reliability of working, do them an ideal tool for equipments that works in extreme environments (think to the artificial satellites or the weather stations) but also for numerous low-power devices (mobile telephones, LED lamps, small motors).

HOW TO USE IT

After cleaning well the window glass, press the suction cap up to complete adhesion. Is also possible to hang up the Rainbow Maker, with the shrewdness to orient the solar panel toward the direction of the sun. To obtain brilliant rainbows, the light must be intense and must strike the crystal in a direct way. A window in shade or a cloudy, are not the better conditions.
We can however do interesting experiments with artificial lighting. If one points a halogen spot (concentrated light) on the solar panel and another lamp (the ideal would be a white LED light) on the crystal, the coloured light will be given off in all its beauty.
We can nearby try interesting installations to the skylights. A slit from which the dazzling light of the sun comes out is the ideal place to spread in rooms with little windows, the positive strength of the rainbows.
 

CONCLUSION

Our society rediscovers more and more the effectiveness of the simple things. Fragrant candles, natural wood, plants, crystals and ores helps us to create a harmony between the objects and the inhabitants of the house. The coloured light plays a fundamental role to mitigate stress and anxiety, to revive the positive tie between the individual and its residence.
